Announcing the 2021 Data Impact Awards

2020 saw us hosting our first ever fully digital Data Impact Awards ceremony, and it certainly was one of the highlights of our year. We saw a record number of entries and incredible examples of how customers were using Cloudera’s platform and services to unlock the power of data. Each year, taking a moment to celebrate successes provides us with a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the incredible work we do together. And it is with this in mind, that we’re delighted to announce that the 2021 Cloudera Data Impact Awards is now open for entries.

The 2021 Cloudera Data Impact Award categories aim to recognize organizations that are using Cloudera’s platform and services to unlock the power of data, with massive business and social impact. In light of a year of unprecedented disruptions, where data has never been so important, and to reflect on the rapidly advancing world of data-led digital transformation, we are excited to announce this year’s 7 categories:

DATA LIFECYCLE CONNECTION

This category is open to organizations that have tackled transformative business use cases by connecting multiple parts of the data lifecycle to enrich, report, serve, and predict.

Use cases could include but are not limited to: predictive maintenance, log data pipeline optimization, connected vehicles, industrial IoT, fraud detection, patient monitoring, network monitoring, and more.

DATA FOR ENTERPRISE AI

We welcome organizations that have built and deployed use cases for enterprise-scale machine learning and have industrialized AI to automate, secure, and optimize data-driven decision-making and/or applications to enter this category. Please note that use cases could include but are not limited to: risk modeling, sentiment analysis, next best action recommendation, anomaly detection, natural language generation, and more.

HYBRID & MULTI-CLOUD INNOVATION

If you are working in an organization that is driving business innovation by unlocking value from data in multiple environments —  in the private cloud or across hybrid and multiple public clouds — we encourage you to consider entering this category. Use cases could include but are not limited to: workload analysis and replication, migrating or bursting to cloud, data warehouse optimization, and more.

SECURITY AND GOVERNANCE LEADERSHIP

We will be looking out for entries from organizations that have centralized management, security, and governance of their data and metadata policies, ensuring consistent data lineage, and control without impacting the ability of the business to drive value and insight from the data. Use cases could include but are not limited to: modeling and reducing business risk, preventing fraud, meeting regulatory compliance with success, establishing fully governed data marketplaces, and more.

PEOPLE FIRST

A new award category for 2021. This award is open to organizations that are tackling some of the most difficult workplace and societal challenges affecting companies and the world around us. Transforming the future of workplace culture and society as a whole, throughout the employee lifecycle. Use cases for this category could include but are not limited to: people analytics and reporting; employee recruiting, retention and development; employee resource groups; diversity, equality and inclusion strategy; supplier diversity, and more.

DATA FOR GOOD

A popular category last year, and no doubt this year too. The Data for Good Award will be looking for examples of organizations that have addressed some of the most challenging issues affecting society and the planet, making what was impossible yesterday, possible today and transforming the future. Use cases could include but are not limited to: optimizing healthcare processes to save lives, data analysis for emergency resource management, building smarter cities with data science, using data and analytics to fight climate change, tackle the food crisis or prioritize actions against poverty, and more.

INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION

Last, but certainly not least. Organizations that move their business to the next level and disrupt their industry by identifying new technologies, applying new skills, and operationalizing processes are called on to enter this category. Use cases could include but are not limited to: redefining business processes, monetization of data for the re-creation of industry value chains, supply chain optimization, connected plants or factories, and more.
