India Energy Week 2024 – my top speakers to meet!

Smart Cities

I’m heading out to India for a few visits in 2024, and I am hoping to combine my visits with a trip to India Energy Week. I am glad to see that India Energy Week will be taking place because India has the third largest demand for energy globally, and it is great to know that they are focused on Net Zero and sustainability. Climate and environmental considerations are very close to my heart.

Why is India Energy Week important? Well, to build a better future for our planet, we need sustainable, cost-sensitive energy models that offer energy security. Progress means we must bring efficient energy to everyone for a more equitable future, particularly for the vulnerable. I’m excited about India Energy Week 2024 as it is timely, taking place under India’s G20 Presidency and right after COP28 to deliver on climate commitments.

On 6-9th Feb in Goa, India, India Energy Week will host global leaders, government ministers, business leaders, and practitioners who will converge on IEW’s Strategic Conference to translate the narrative into strategic action. The wise move is to know when we need to flip from inaction to action. Strategy helps to set direction, and it can be hard to know where to start. IEW offers a breadth of topics from renowned experts in a variety of areas, and I’ve highlighted a few here that are of particular interest:

Smart Mobility and Smart Cities need to be energy smart

Smart mobility and smart cities are the future, and IEW will host Venu Nuguri Venu Nuguri, Managing Director and CEO, India, Head of Region South Asia, Member of Global Executive Team, Hitachi Energy, to share his expertise and experiences on nation-building projects for the future, such as the Indian Railways’ initiative to net-zero carbon emissions.

Climate Investment Strategy is crucial for success

Investment is an important topic, and IEW is pleased to have Dr Matthew Harwood Chief Strategy Officer of Climate Investment on board to share insights on CI strategy and related topics such as renewables and measuring progress toward our vision of GHG reduction.

International Collaboration is vital to meet climate challenges

There are a range of influential international speakers from governments around the world and from India. From the Indian Government, IEW is honoured to have His Excellence, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs. From around the world, IEW will welcome many dignitaries, such as His Excellency Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Power and Energy, from Sri Lanka; His Excellency Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Republic of Djibouti; His Excellency Flavien P Joubert, Minister of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment from the Seychelles, and Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State (Gas) Petroleum Resources from the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The time to get involved is now. See you at IEW to create a better future for our planet through collaboration and blending of cross-sector partnerships and expertise. The solutions will involve strategic conversations about the future of energy and the generation of investment, along with visionary technology to deliver the outcomes we need for Sustainable Energy.
