지난 6월 10일, 오픈AI(OpenAI)가 대표 추론 모델인 o3의 가격을 대폭 인하했다. 입력 100만 토큰당 10달러, 출력 100만 토큰당 40달러였던 가격이 각각 2달러, 8달러로 약 80% 줄어든 것이다. API 리셀러들도 곧바로 반응했다. 커서(Cursor)는 이제 o3 요청을 GPT-4o와 동일하게 계산하며, 윈드서프(Windsurf)도 ‘o3-reasoning’ 등급을 단일 크레딧으로 낮췄다. 커서 사용자 입장에서는 하루 만에 비용이 10분의 1로 줄어든 셈이다. 지연 시간도 함께 개선됐다. 오픈AI는 새로운 지연 시간 수치를 공식적으로 발표하진 않았지만, 서드파티 대시보드에서는 여전히 긴 프롬프트의 경우 첫 토큰 출력까지 약 15~20초가 소요되는 것으로 나타난다.

MS CEO 사티아 나델라는 최근 암스테르담에서 열린 ‘마이크로소프트 AI 투어’에서 유럽 고객의 데이터 보호 우려를 해소하기 위해 노력하고 있다고 밝혔다. 동시에, 유럽 전역의 기업들이 디지털 주권을 확보할 수 있도록 추가 기능을 발표했다. MS는 성명 을 통해 “개인과 기관이 독립적이고, 안전하며, 자율적으로 일할 수 있도록 하는 디지털 주권 모델에 전념하고 있다”라고 설명했다. 지난 2023년 7월에 등장했던 악성 LLM 웜GPT의 새로운 두 변종이 확인됐다. 이 변종들은 xAI의 그록, 미스트랄(Mistral)의 믹스트랄 모델을 기반으로 하고 있으며, 기존 모델처럼 제한 없이 피싱 이메일, BEC 메시지, 멀웨어 스크립트를 생성할 수 있다. 클라우드 기반 네트워크 보안 기업 카토네트웍스(CATO Networks)가 지난해 10월부터 올해 2월 사이 언더그라운드 마켓플레이스인 브리치포럼(BreachForums) 에 게시된 해당 변종들을 분석한 결과, 기존에 보고되지 않았던 신종 모델임을 확인했다. 카토 CTRL 소속 연구원 비탈리 시모노비치는 블로그를 통해 “2024년 10월 26일, ‘xzin0vich’가 브리치포럼에 웜GPT 의 새로운 변종을 게시했다. 2025년 2월 25일에는 ‘Keanu’가 또 다른 변종을 업로드했다”라고 밝혔다.

매체 보도에 따르면 인텔은 다음 달부터 제조 부문 직원의 최대 20%를 감원할 계획이다. 이는 인텔이 수익성 회복을 목표로 하는 가운데 선택지가 점점 줄어들고 있음을 시사하는 조치로 해석됐다. 매체 오리거니언(The Oregonian) 이 보도한 인텔 제조 부문 부사장 나가 찬드라세카라난의 사내 메모에 따르면, 이번 감원은 전 세계적으로 이뤄질 예정이며 일부는 미국 내에서 단행될 예정이다. 해당 보도에 의하면 감원은 인텔의 미국 내 핵심 거점인 오리건주 반도체 공장에도 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상됐다. 인텔은 오리건주에서 2만 명의 직원을 고용하고 있어 지역 내 최대 고용주에 속한다. 인포테크 리서치 그룹(Info-Tech Research Group) 자문위원인 스콧 비클리는 “신임 CEO 립부 탄 이 경영에 들어서자마자 인력 감축 결정을 내린 것은 놀랄 일이 아니다.

이번 신규 데이터센터 오픈은 2022년 서울 리전 출범 이후 3년 만으로, AI 인프라 수요 급증에 대응하기 위한 조치다. 알리바바 클라우드는 현재 전 세계 29개 리전과 87개의 가용영역을 운영 중이며, 이번 두 번째 국내 데이터센터는 88번째 가용영역에 해당한다. 윤용준 알리바바 클라우드 인텔리전스(이하 알리바바 클라우드) 한국 지사장은 “알리바바 클라우드는 2023년 클라우드 및 AI 인프라에 3,800억 위안, 우리 돈 약 70조 원 규모의 투자를 단행하겠다고 발표한 바 있으며, 이번 한국 데이터센터 개소도 그 연장선상에 있는 투자”라고 설명했다. 새로운 데이터센터는 6월 말 공식 가동 예정이며, 첫 번째 데이터센터와 마찬가지로 서울에 위치한다.
