지난해 1월 9일 처음 발표 된 이후 약 18개월 동안 진행돼 온 HPE의 주니퍼네트웍스 인수 계약이 3일 공식적으로 마무리됐다. 이번 거래는 발표 직후부터 영국 , 유럽연합(EU) , 미국 규제 당국의 심사를 받아왔다. 특히 미국 법무부가 지난 1월 해당 인수를 막기 위한 소송을 제기하면서 최대 걸림돌로 떠올랐다. 이 소송이 지난달 27일 해결되며 인수가 최종 마무리됐다. 거래 완료 이후 HPE는 주니퍼를 통합하는 작업을 본격화했다. 이번 인수의 일환으로 HPE는 ‘HPE 네트워킹(HPE Networking)’이라는 신규 사업부를 설립했으며, 주니퍼 전 CEO 라미 라힘이 조직을 이끌게 된다. 사업부에는 HPE 아루바와 HPE 주니퍼의 운영 부문이 모두 포함되며, 두 브랜드는 각각의 시장 가치를 고려해 유지될 방침이다.
