Your data and AI tools are important, and outcomes are critical, but with today’s data-driven world, businesses must accelerate outcomes while improving IT cost efficiency. But how do you achieve this?

First, Data and AI initiatives must have intelligent workflows where the data lifecycle can work for various personas of the organization. It’s beyond just tool collaboration and consolidation, but it is also the collaboration of teams, streamlining of processes and interoperability of capabilities that improve outcomes.

Since the arrival of IBM Cloud Pak for Data two years ago, the key points in design of the platform have included agility and an open ecosystem. We’ve since deepened these commitments with today’s release of a new Cloud Pak for Data ecosystem that couples together key IBM Data and AI capabilities with a shared set of open source services – all able to run on any cloud including the IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure and more.

Upgrade your insights with a unified data and AI platform

As an across the board leader in data and AI software, IBM has helped a number of customers with modernizing their data strategy. We’ve now redesigned and simplified the way current customers can use our services for increased agility and interoperability.

Now, clients that currently have eligible IBM Data and AI services can move to IBM Cloud Pak for Data for a simple, collaborative, self-service user experience, at their own speed. You can use Cloud Pak for Data in tandem with your current product, a newly containerized version of your current product or switch over completely. Through these upgrades, we have enabled our customers to get the services they already love on a containerized Data and AI platform that provides a unified data management experience with simplified governance and workflow for AI/ML.

In our recent Podcast with Forrester VP, Principal Analyst, Brian Hopkins and Chief Product Officer of IBM Cloud Paks, Dinesh Nirmal, we share the importance of how Cloud Pak for Data can reduce the tasks and work involved to deploy and manage an entire data workload. This is thanks to the platform running on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, which helps reduce infrastructure management by a projected 65 to 85 percent.

By migrating eligible clients to Cloud Pak for Data, clients can enable cloud-native benefits like simplified provisioning, scaling, seamless upgrades and consolidated infrastructure management. Instead of spending extra time and costs with workloads that have to be tailored together, teams can get up and running faster with a pre-configured set of data and AI tools, on their choice of cloud.

The upgrades will feature all of the base capabilities of Cloud Pak for Data, including IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog, data virtualization, DataOps and regulatory services.

If you’re a current Db2, DataStage, Planning Analytics, Cognos Analytics, Master Data Management, or SPSS Modeler client, you can seamlessly migrate to a Cloud Pak for Data-based service and experience the benefits of one platform for all your data and AI needs.

These benefits are not only for our current customers. We have repackaged services for the entire Data and AI set of use cases – with each service running on an agile, lightweight container you can modernize with Cloud Pak for Data on a defined use case without a massive front-end investment. Want to build a next-generation AI database? Need to evolve your supply chain and logistical planning? We have services running on Cloud Pak for Data that will help you speed time to outcome.

Starting with a single microservice, you can then scale up as needed to build a full enterprise Data and AI platform. Like every service on Cloud Pak for Data, your new service can be deployed on whatever cloud you have chosen, and have access to numerous 3rd party and open technologies.

Take the next steps

Utilizing these new capabilities on Cloud Pak for Data will further enhance your agility and collaborative skills without a major upfront investment in the platform.

Take the next step to upgrading to a unified data and AI platform today by scheduling a free consultation.

5 min read - As large language models (LLMs) have entered the common vernacular, people have discovered how to use apps that access them. Modern AI tools can generate, create, summarize, translate, classify and even converse. Tools in the generative AI domain allow us to generate responses to prompts after learning from existing artifacts. One area that has not seen much innovation is at the far edge and on constrained devices. We see some versions of AI apps running locally on mobile devices with…
