We find ways to improve machine learning so that it requires orders of magnitude more data, e.g., deep learning with neural networks. In 2001, Bill Cleveland writes this article saying, “You are doing it wrong.” We actually got people to label a bunch of stories and say that they feel different feels, and then we used some deep learning models that would actually predict what feelings people would feel. We crowdsourced it.
