This is essentially the same as finding a truly useful objective to optimize. We use this knowledge to define objective functions to optimize our ads system with a view towards the long-term. For instance, in 2011 we altered the AdWords auction ranking function to account for the long-term impact of showing a given ad.

If you’ve used Google, you’ve used the cornucopia of Linked data across the Web, through Google’s Knowledge Graph (Google’s Knowledge Graph is reportedly supported by Freebase – the knowledge acquired by Google in 2010. ) We can’t imagine looking at the Semantic Web as an artifact.
